Last Thursday night I went to see Danny Tenaglia play at “Nevermind” on Oxford Street. It was an intimate gig, with just over 300 tickets sold.  He was/is an absolute legend both behind the decks and as a person. He was the most friendly and outgoing dude, constantly reminding the crowd to “BE YOURSELVES”. He impressed from beginning to end, having a laugh and a chat with us while we were waiting in the line to go in, and then over the course of the night talking to us from behind the wheels of steel, and taking us on a house journey from way back when to who knows where. His track selection was impeccable, as one would only expect from such a disco veteran. In the toilets he had the greatest posters put up, reminding all the chin strokers that this was a special event, and that it was.

Here is 10 minutes of footage that I took!

Twiggy only modelled for four years, but that was enough to secure her position as the face of the 1960s and the fashion icon for a generation. During her years as a model, Twiggy posed for some of the top photographers, including Barry Lategan, Melvin Sokolsky, Richard Avendon and Bert Stern who would make three films about her extraordinary trip to the United States in 1967.

Arthur Radebaugh was a futurist illustrator, airbrush artist, and industrial designer. From 1958 to 1962 he produced the AWESOME comic strip “Closer Than We Think!”

The following strips were circulate in the Chicago Tribune Circa. 1960.

The cartoon “The Jetsons” was definitely a catalyst in my childhood in terms of triggering an interest in the future/science, modern architecture etc. etc… and different ways that the future could be depicted. I find it fascinating looking back at different artists in history, when they have devised pictorial or graphic representations of the future. None of the predictions ever seem to become completely true, take the first example below from “Mechanix Illustrated”. This was a prediction in the 1950’s of how American’s would be living in the mid to late 1980’s. – How wrong they were. But that’s what I love about Futurist illustrations and graphics, they are just a prediction, someone’s fantasy world that could possibly exist. I have collected a bunch of my favourite Futurist / Scientific illustrations, hope you enjoy!

scene from An American Warewolf in London…. it sort of reminds me of playing ZOMBIES on Call of Duty.. ha

battle axe experiment – swollen members (1999)

Title track from the 1983 Album “Let’s Dance”. I love the Australian theme. Apparently when they filmed the clip, all the patrons in the pub thought Bowie was a joke, and they genuinely hated them filming the video there. Typical Australian closed mindedness…

tuseday lunchtime question….

yokojohnlego

what was yoko’s role in the break up of the Beatles?

yokojohnbed

they seemed almost too perfect. but did yoko’s reluctance to let john fulfil his duties of recording and songwriting really have THAT much to do with the split of the band?

yokojohnstudio

will we ever know?!

you replaced me with a fat dog.

moving on is the best, its even better when the other half realises that you have moved on…
